An example of panopticism

The one me tom and craig were talking about in the seminar was a really good example so i wanted to put that up on here. - Sets at high School

The sets were panoptic because it was all about being an object of information and not a subject to communication, we didnt have a say in what sets we were put in, we basically got put into sets depending on how productive we were for the school in relation to their quotas for getting paid more for us getting "better marks". So alot of kids bought into this very idea and the kids in the higher sets were all polite and well mannored and the kids who didnt fit this stereotype got put into the low sets, tucked away where no one could see them. Because you see this reflects on the school and all schools are extremely concerned about how presentable they are to the external nosy people - offstead or whatever they are called.

So again offstead are panoptic as when they come into a classroom the teacher immidiately becomes polite happy etc. MINDCONTROL!
